April 13, 2011 PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
PUBLIC HEARING MEETING
On April 13, 2011 the residents of the Town of Auburn met with the Town Board to give their input on the proposed adoption of an ordinance governing non-metallic mine operator’s licenses.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman of the Board, Paul Scheidecker at 6:04 pm.
Those in attendance at this meeting are listed on the following page on the roll call sheet.
The first comment was from Heather Anderson who was concerned about the amount of water that would be used and if it would affect residents well water and the long hours of operation of the wet plant.
Claudia Cavanaugh was concerned that the responsibility for paying for the roads would fall on the mining companies who put on the extra wear and tear on them.
Bill Waldbuesser mentioned his concern of noise from the plant when it is operating 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. He also asked if there will be any tax paid to the Town for sand taken.
Randi Osberg then read the following petition that was presented to the Town Board.
A few of the Plan Commission members stated their concerns as they worked on this draft of the ordinance. Dennis Henry commented that he is most concerned about the Town and its roads, wants to protect from high taxes. Clyde Allison wanted to be pro-active in getting stuff on paper in order to cover all town roads from wear without the needed funds to cover repairs. Wade Latz mentioned he is all for economic development as long as there will be no misfortune for others in the process. Setting down policy is good and bad at the same time.
Al Blaha made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Gene Peterson seconded it. Meeting adjourned at 7:15PM.
